Lynn City Hall & Other Public Buildings to be Open by Appointment Only Beginning Monday, December 7th

Mayor Thomas McGee announced today that Lynn City Hall, Department of Public Works, Library, Police and Fire Department administrative offices will be open to the public by appointment only beginning next Monday, December 7th. On-site staffing in those respective buildings will be reduced to 50% capacity at any one time. All public safety services, including Police and Fire, will continue to operate at full-staffing levels and curbside trash and recycling pickup will continue on a normal schedule.

“As we see the number of cases rise throughout Lynn and the Commonwealth, it is important that we lead by example and take preventative actions similar to those we are asking the public to take.” McGee said. “This will limit the amount of people in our public buildings, while continuing to carry out essential services for our residents. I encourage all businesses in Lynn that are able to efficiently conduct business remotely to continue to do so to stop the spread of COVID-19.”

Residents are encouraged to conduct any urgent City Hall business via phone, email or at www.lynnma.gov. If you do need to visit City Hall in person, please call 781-598-4000 to make an appointment with the respective department. A reminder that Lynn City Hall hours are Monday, Wednesday & Thursday 8:30AM-4:00PM, Tuesday 8:30AM-8:00PM and Friday 8:30AM-12:30PM. Residents should anticipate slight delays in response with some staff working in person and others working remotely; however, all offices will remain fully functioning.

The above press release was sent to us by Mayor McGee’s office.

FMCB Advisory: Public Comment Update

Dedicated form now available for written comments.

The MBTA today announced updates to public comment procedures for upcoming Fiscal and Management Control Board (FMCB) meetings. In an effort to provide better and effective opportunities for public comment and engagement, a new dedicated online form will be available beginning with the December 7 FMCB meeting for providing written comments on specific agenda items.

The MBTA continues to explore how to best enable public engagement with public comments on FMCB agenda items welcomed and encouraged. The new dedicated online form for submitting written comments will be available on the event page of each FMCB meeting. In addition to the new online form, written comments may continue to be submitted via email to publiccomment@dot.state.ma.us or by mail to Fiscal and Management Control Board, 10 Park Plaza – Suite 3510, Boston, MA 02116. Form submissions and mailed or emailed comments will be compiled and distributed to all Board Members as soon as practicable after the meeting.

Also beginning with the December 7 FMCB meeting, the previous real-time comment option will be discontinued due to lack of usage. The MBTA continues to offer all other options of previously available commenting as well as the new online form and including the voicemail option, which allows commenters to record a voicemail comment at their convenience before the meeting. Voice message comments may be submitted by calling 857-368-1655 and leaving a message at least one hour before the start of the FMCB meeting. Messages must be limited to ninety seconds per commenter, or up to four minutes for comments submitted on behalf of an organization or elected official and at the discretion of the Board Chair. A representative selection of voice message comments will be played aloud during the public comment portion of the FMCB meeting with all voicemail comments compiled and distributed to all Board Members as soon as is practicable after the meeting.

The full agenda for the December 7 FMCB meeting along with further instructions and information on public comments is available here with the new online form for written comments available here.
