Magnolia Park to Open Following Assessment of Impacts to Soil
On September 29, 2023, the City of Lynn limited access to a portion of Magnolia Park after environmental testing determined the presence of arsenic in the top foot of soil, requiring notification to the Massachusetts Department of Environmental Protection.
Additional assessment and follow-up testing were subsequently conducted to further evaluate potential impacts at the Park, the results of which indicated that conditions at the site do not pose an imminent hazard or risk of harm to resident health. With this clearance, the closed portion of the park has been reopened to the public.
Fencing will be removed and the park will be reopened by the end of this week.
Should residents have questions or concerns, please contact the Inspectional Services Department at (781) 598- 4000.
