Today, the Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority (MBTA) announced that Lynn Ferry services will begin its seasonal weekday service schedule on Monday, March 31, 2025. Weekend service will begin on Saturday, May 24, 2025, coinciding with the Memorial Day holiday.
The Lynn Ferry will operate throughout the summer season, providing commuters and visitors with a travel option that reduces congestion, supports greenhouse gas reduction, and offers a convenient option for riders traveling between Boston and the North Shore. A one-way fare on the Lynn Ferry is $7.00 (or $3.50 for Reduced Fare riders). Tickets can be purchased on the mTicket app or with cash on board. Commuter Boat or Commuter Rail Zone 2 (or higher) passes and M7 cards are also accepted.
“I am thrilled that the Lynn Ferry will be launching in the end of March for this upcoming season, as the ridership level has continued to show this is a strongly utilized investment,” said Senator Brendan Crighton. “We are grateful that the Healey-Driscoll Administration and the MBTA prioritize this travel option, which improves economic development, workforce mobility, and increases transportation opportunities.”
“I’m thrilled to hear that ferry service will be starting sooner than anticipated. This early launch is great news for our community and will undoubtedly have a positive impact, making travel more accessible and convenient,” said Representative Dan Cahill. “This a significant step forward for both residents and visitors, and I believe this will help strengthen our local economy and improve overall transportation options.”
“The continued success of the Lynn Ferry is owed to its dedicated riders,” said Representative Jenny Armini. “I am grateful to them for sharing their enthusiasm with friends and neighbors and for turbo charging the ridership numbers.”
“We had such a successful ferry season last year, and we’re excited to build on that momentum this year,” said State Representative Sean Reid. “Reliable and affordable water transportation is a game changer for our region, and I’m grateful to the Healey-Driscoll administration, the MBTA, and all of the other partners for recognizing its value and continuing to invest in it.”
“We are thrilled to announce the 2025 Lynn ferry service schedule, which has become a beloved part of our community,” said Mayor Jared Nicholson. “As we move into another year, we’re excited that the MBTA will continue offering a reliable and accessible transportation option that
serves our residents and region and enhances the daily commuting experience for riders and creates opportunities for weekend trips by sea.”
“We are excited that the Lynn Ferry is back for another successful year. Last year over 30,000 commuters were able to enjoy the Lynn Ferry,” said Executive Director of the Economic Development & Industrial Corporation of Lynn Jim Cowdell. This is a great way to commute and EDIC will once again offer free parking for all commuters.”
