The Lynn Public Health Division (LPDH) was recently awarded a CHII/NiCIP grant, the focus on which is making the community more accessible for people with disabilities, mobility limitations, as well as addressing racial disparities among individuals with disabilities. The LPHD has mobilized an Inclusive Health Coalition (IHC) to help guide the Public Health Dept. on using best practices while engaging with priority populations.
Members of the committee are comprised of diverse groups of community leaders, residents with lived experience and organizations focused on promoting disability inclusion in programs and services related to physical activity, nutrition, and obesity. The role of the IHC is crucial to the success of the grant as they will manage the grant to include assessment, inclusion plan, implementation, and evaluation. To ensure that the IHC remains inclusive and has members from all backgrounds with lived experience, LPDH is currently seeking a Lynn BIPOC resident living with a disability under the age of 30 to join the IHC. Please note, this will be a paid position.
The Inclusive Health Coalitions responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Steering direction of inclusionary projects for the City of Lynn’s CHII/NiCIP Grant
- Recruiting additional IHC members
- Establishing regular check-in times per month to discuss data and plan project oversite
- Members can team up to help facilitate questionnaires
- Members know people in organizations and at locations of interest for surveying
- Members may have access to data that has been collected on the community to inform project decisions
- Summarizing data collected
