This coming month, Lynn Walking Shoe Tours proudly presents a series of events commemorating the incredible moment in Lynn’s history, the 1860 Shoemakers’ Strike. These events aim to unveil untold tales of resilience, solidarity, and triumph, echoing a resounding cry for equal pay and dignity in the workplace.

The 1860 Lynn Shoemakers’ Strike stands as a testament to the power of collective action and the courage of women that lead the Great Ladies Procession. As we reflect on this pivotal moment in history, we are reminded of the enduring relevance of its lessons in today’s world.

The series of events will feature a diverse range of activities, such as:

These extraordinary events have been made possible through the collaborative efforts of influential women within our local community. Emmanuelle Le Gal, a talented artist, graciously agreed to be the cover of this series. Lisa Connolly, Executive Director of Lynn Home for Women, Inc. Washington Square Residence, for opening the doors of the residency to host two enlightening presentations. Annette Sykes, Executive Director of Galleries At LynnArts, for opening the space for a compelling exhibition in the community gallery, showcasing the enduring resilience of the human spirit. Amanda Masson and Michelle Guzman, the visionary curators of the exhibit. Kristina Stevick, the Artistic Director of History Alive, Inc. for bringing to live this piece of history. Lastly, an special thanks to Lynn Cultural Council and Mass Cultural Council for the grant received
