Students from St. Mary’s High School are on a mission to help those going to college graduate debt-free.
ClearPath is a financial literacy project created by Calli Alliare, Jack Dignan, and Cam Dunn that educates students and families about strategies to get through college debt-free. This solution-oriented initiative is aimed at mitigating the student debt burden by equipping students with the tools and knowledge to make informed financial decisions.
Paths that ClearPath identifies as leading to a Debt-Free College Education include:
- Need-blind, no-loan colleges
- These colleges pledge to meet the demonstrated financial need of students through grants and scholarships rather than through student loans.
- The UMass system
- Starting next fall tuition and fees at UMass schools will be covered for undergraduate students whose households earn less than $75,000.
- Community colleges
- Community college is free to Massachusetts residents through the MassEduate program.
- Reserve Officer Training Corps (ROTC)
- ROTC programs, available at many colleges and universities, offer scholarships that cover full tuition, books, and fees in exchange for a commitment to serve in the military after graduation.
- Military academies
- Military academies provide a fully-funded education in exchange for a commitment to serve as an officer in the armed forces after graduation.
