Superintendent Announces 5 New Elementary Principals

After conducting extensive interviews of 8 qualified applicants over 2 days and narrowing the pool down to 6 finalists, we were able to appoint the best educators to lead our schools and support our students, families, and teachers. Below are the candidates chosen for each school:

Aborn | Sarah McIsaac

 Ms. McIsaac has been an experienced administrator and educator in the Lynn Public Schools for the past 23 years.  She has a passion and personal commitment to ensuring that all students’ individual academic and social-emotional needs are met. She holds a Bachelor of Arts in Elementary Education and Psychology from Bridgewater State University, a Master of Arts in Elementary Education from Cambridge College, and completed her Administrator/Principal Preparation Program through Northeast Consortium Leadership Academy.  Ms. McIsaac is a well-respected staff member who will lead the Aborn community with incredible commitment and expertise.


Connery | Kendwy Valdez

Ms. Valdez is a well-respected staff member who will lead the Connery School with incredible commitment and expertise.  She distinguished herself within our pool of candidates as the one who is best suited for the role. Ms. Valdez has held many roles within our district as classroom teacher and more recently as interim Principal at the Tracy School. She has shown her ability to support a school in new curriculum resources and to develop and implement instructional systems to support this work. As one of the first dual language educators in the Lynn Public Schools, she worked as a grade one teacher teaching core subject areas in Spanish, meeting the needs of second language learners to have access to all areas of the curriculum while acquiring a new language. She holds her Batchelor degree in Elementary Education from Western Governors University, Masters in Elementary Math from Western Governors University, Certificate of Leadership from Perrone-Sizer Institute for Creative Leadership Cambridge College and holds the Bilingual Education Endorsement from Boston College. Ms. Valdez is well-versed in dual language and will be an exceptional addition to the leadership of the Connery Elementary School.


Ford | Amy Nerich

Mrs. Nerich has been the Interim Principal of the Ford Elementary School since August 2022. With 24 years of exceptional work as an education in the Lynn Public Schools she brings many qualifications to her ability to do the job and be an effective school leader. During her career she has been an integral member of the Harrington School leadership and data team. Mrs. Nerich was impactful in helping to move the school out of Level 4 status and holds the skill set to help the Ford School continue their work in improving student performance and bringing the community school aspect back to Ford. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Education from Westfield State University, a Masters in Elementary Education from Endicott College, and a Master of Education in Administration from UMass Lowell. She is already beloved by students, family, and staff with her caring, supportive, and student focused mindset.


Tracy | Carrie Nicosia

Mrs. Nicosia has held many positions throughout her career in the Lynn Public Schools. She began her career as a teacher working in many of our schools both at the middle school and elementary level. She then became the English Department Head at Breed Middle School transitioning to her most recent role as Interim Program Specialist at Tracy Elementary School. Her skillset in working with teacher teams around curriculum, instruction, and the delivery of anti-racist, culturally responsive practices that maximizes linguistic assets have proven to be a strength. Mrs. Nicosia is an innovative thinker and always keeps data at the center of her work. She holds a Bachelor of Arts in Education and Sociology from Regis College, a Masters in Middle School Education from Salem State University and holds her license in Principal/Assistant Principal PreK-8. Her impact in the past six months is a testament to her commitment and passion for the work at the Tracy School.


Sewell-Anderson | Elizabeth Daily Ortega

Ms. Daily Ortega comes with many years of educational experience. She has held many positions throughout her career from School Social Worker to Clinical Coordinator, School Adjustment Counselor to currently an Assistant Principal. Throughout her work equity and ensuring a safe learning environment have been at the core. She holds high expectations for students while ensuring the support is given to reach such goals and believes this is paramount to the work. Her skillset as a clinician is an asset to her role as a building leader. Ms. Daily Ortega holds a Bachelor of Science in Rehabilitation Services from the University of Maine at Farmington, a Master’s in social work (LICSW) from Wheelock College, and her CAGS in Educational Leadership from Salem State University. She is a well-respected educator who comes with a strong set of skills that can continue successes that the Sewell Anderson community has had and move them into the next journey of learning.
