The Food Project will be accepting applications for their summer Seed Crew program until March 24th. The Seed Crew provides the first opportunity for 72 high school students to get involved with this organization that works to build a sustainable food system.
During this six-week program youth work with staff to grow vegetables and distribute thousands of pounds of produce while developing leadership, teamwork, workplace, and civic participation skills. After working on our farms each morning, Seed Crew spends most afternoons in workshops learning about sustainable agriculture, food access, social justice, and more.
Seed Crew members will work approximately 28-32 hours per week, and will be paid $15.00 per hour. To be eligible for the position, prospective candidates must:
- Be between the ages 14-17 (must be 14 by June 1 and have completed 8th grade by July 1).
- Have completed an application with a recommendation before the deadline, March 24th for the North Shore region. Applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis.
- Be available to work every day of the entire six-week Seed Crew (see dates below).
- In order to submit your application, you must have a letter of recommendation included from an adult who is not a family member.
- Be invited for, and complete an interview

- Paperwork Orientation dates: May 7, 14, and 21 from 5:30-6:30 pm
- Seed Crew Season runs July 7- Aug 14, 2025
The Food Project’s mission is to create a thoughtful and productive community of youth and adults from diverse backgrounds who work together to build a sustainable food system. TFP works with youth across racial, socio-economic, gender identity, and geographic differences to work on their urban and suburban farms in Boston, Lincoln, Lynn, and Wenham.
Each year, The Food Project hires 140 teens, grows 200,000 lbs. of food, and donates more than 180,000 servings of fresh produce to hunger relief organizations across eastern Massachusetts.
