Annette Sykes and Polyvios Christoforos Present Back-to-Back Shows at Galleries at LynnArts
The Galleries at LynnArts are proud to present two upcoming solo exhibitions that highlight the powerful connection between mentorship, neurodivergent support, and creative growth.
Annette Sykes, founder of Paint by the Ocean, will present “Breathing Brushstrokes: A Journey Through Light and Shadow” from May 7–11, 2025, with an Artist Talk on May 8 from 6:30–7:30PM and a Reception on May 10 from 2:30–4:30PM. Her work explores vibrant everyday scenes and atmospheric landscapes, examining the play of light and shadow with depth and emotion.
Following this, her mentee, Polyvios Christoforos, will present “From the Collection: Greek Scenes, Caricatures & Figure Drawings” from May 14–18, 2025, with an Artist’s Reception on May 18 from 2:00–4:00PM. Christoforos’s colorful, expressive work is a unique blend of cultural homage, humor, and keen observation.
Annette and Polyvios have been working together in a mentor-mentee relationship since early December 2024. Their connection began at GALA’s long-standing Monday Night Figure Drawing Group, where they have been drawing side-by-side since the summer of 2024. Polyvios has also joined the Lynn Experimental Painters Group, further deepening his engagement in the local arts community.
This mentorship is a shining example of how individuals and families, with the support of organizations such as the Department of Developmental Services, Northeast ARCWorks and other community-based programs on the North Shore, help autistic individuals build creative and collaborative relationships. Annette’s guidance and Polyvios’s dedication reflect the strength and inclusion of our neurodivergent communities and their vital place in the cultural fabric of the region.
Both shows will be held at The Galleries at LynnArts, 25 Exchange Street, Lynn, MA 01901.
