The North Shore Juneteenth Association held their annual Frederick Douglass Speech Reading event last week on July 3rd. Every year on the 3rd the community is invited to gather and read selections of Douglass’ 1852 speech “What to the Slave Is the Fourth of July?”. Before this there was an unveiling ceremony for a new wayfinding sign at the park downtown which bears his name, which expands upon his time in Lynn and work against slavery.
