LCTV News | Juneteenth flag raising at Lynn City Hall (June 15, 2021)
The City of Lynn & North Shore Juneteenth Association held a flag raising ceremony at City Hall this past Tuesday. There were speakers and performances that all highlighted Juneteenth, the history of the holiday, and why it is important. Juneteenth is a holiday celebrating the emancipation of African-Americans who had been enslaved in the US. Juneteenth was also made an official federal holiday by President Biden on Thursday, the first added since MLK Day in 1983.
