Despite a rainy forecast, the skies cleared just in time for the Wyoma Lions Club’s 26th Annual Memorial Tree Service on Saturday, May 24, 2025. Community members gathered under dry skies at Lynn City Common to honor the memory of loved ones and veterans with a moving ceremony dedicated to service, remembrance, and hope.

Since 1999, this cherished tradition has provided a meaningful way for residents to remember those who have served and those they love. Each sponsored white crystal light on the Memorial Tree represents a life celebrated, with names read aloud during the solemn service and displayed on Memorial Boards around the tree.

This year’s ceremony held special significance, paying tribute to the Army, Navy, and Marine Corps on the 250th Anniversary of their establishment. The program included the presentation of the colors by the Lynn English Marine Corps JROTC, stirring renditions of “Taps” by the Lynn All City Marching Band, and a heartfelt address from Wyoma Lions Club President Mark Erwich.

“We are humbled to serve a community shaped and protected by the courage of our servicemen and women. Today, we not only remember their sacrifices but commit ourselves to continue serving in our community.”

Wyoma Lions Club President Mark Erwich

The event was graced by the presence of dignitaries including Councilors from Wards 1, 3, 4, and 5; Councilor at Large; School Committee members; and representatives from Veterans Affairs. Attendees reflected on the legacy of service and the power of community support.

All proceeds from the Memorial Tree Service support the Massachusetts Lions Eye Research Fund and other local charities through the Wyoma Lions Club. To learn more about the club or to sponsor a light in honor of a loved one, please visit www.wyomalionsclub.org or email wyomalions54@gmail.com.
