Redesign of City of Lynn and Lynn Public School websites underway
The City of Lynn website — lynnma.gov — and the Lynn Public Schools website — lynnschools.org — will be getting a much-needed redesign.
The City has contracted with Intrado, a company that provides SchoolMessenger notification products to Lynn Public Schools, and has experience in designing municipal websites. The website redesign will take approximately 10 months and Intrado has been notified to move forward with the envisioning phase of the process. The City is using ARPA funds to cover the cost of the design of the new websites, which are scheduled to launch in July 2023.
There will be outreach from the Mayor’s office, asking residents how the new City and school websites can be helpful and to share their expectations and requests. The responses will guide the planning and design of the overall websites and seek to ensure that they are intuitive, user-friendly, and formatted for use on any device the visitor may be using.
“The website is a primary vehicle for the City to communicate with residents, businesses, and visitors,” said Mayor Jared C. Nicholson. “Our goal is to create a more informative, user-friendly platform to facilitate that communication.”
The timeline for the project includes:
- Planning phase, 15 Days – Start public outreach
- Design phase, 125 Days – end public outreach
- Configuration phase, 75 days – finalize content
- Training phase, 5 Days – Train City staff
- Migration phase, 55 Days – Migrate current materials to new site
- Stabilization phase, 20 Days – Quality assurance
- Deployment phase, 3 Days – Site launch
The process of creating a new website is being directed by the Lynn Website Committee, which was formed in October and includes: Valerie Vong and Jean Fana (Mayor’s office), Lauren Drago (Planning Department), Zosia VanMeter (Inspectional Services), Coco Alinsug (City Council), and Sam Minton (Lynn Public Schools).
The above press release was submitted to us by Mayor Nicholson’s office.
