SCI Social Capital Inc. is a local nonprofit that is organizing its 2nd annual Youth Grant Pitch Contest. At the last minute we had one of our 8 volunteer coaches have to back out due to a work scheduling conflict so we are looking for one more to fill our spot.
The youth team that the coach would be working with virtually is a group of nine 7/8th graders from the Jean Charles Academy in Lynn and they want to pitch an idea that addresses the mental health needs of BIPOC youth in their community. They will meet with their coach virtually for one hour every Tuesday from 1-2 PM starting February 14th through the end of March (6 sessions) and have the February break off so no session February 21st.
It culminates in a live in-person pitch contest on Saturday April 1st from 2-4:30 in Cambridge where the youth groups will pitch their ideas to a panel of judges. The coach does not have to be there at the pitch event, although they are more than welcome and encouraged to join. Winning groups will be awarded up to $1,500 to implement their project ideas.
