Students from Harvard’s Graduate School of Design are working with the City of Lynn to create engagement activities to inform residents about climate issues facing Lynn. To do this students from the Urban Planning Studio Course at Harvard’s have created a game about coastal erosion and how it could affect the Central and South Harbor of Lynn. Community members who complete the survey will be entered to win a Dunkin gift card.

“Envisioning a Climate-Ready Future in Lynn” is a fifteen-week initiative that will consider how Lynn can best prepare itself for the impacts of climate change. This initiative builds off the work completed in April 2023 under the “Lynn – A Greater Gateway” project, which you can see a recap of by clicking here. Students will be engaging with municipal departments, organizations, and community members in City of Lynn directly “to better understand the effects of climate change, envision how investments in climate adaptation can simultaneously improve quality-of-life and equity outcomes, and ultimately empower the community to respond to this generational challenge.”

With help from the Planning Department these students are currently reaching out for interviews, asking for participation in a focus group, or visiting your place of business to reach these goals. After the initiative is complete, the students will present their findings and recommendations to the City.

A community presentation of their studio projects will be given on April 25th from 5:30-7:00 PM at Lynn City Hall. More details below.
