On Tuesday, November 5th the City of Lynn held its Final State Election and the City of Lynn Elections Office has released the voting numbers!

This year there are no city seats up for grabs, all races being run are at the state and federal levels. As such, we did not broadcast an Election Night Results Show. Aside from President Lynn voters also got to choose Register of Deeds for Southern Essex County and Clerk of Courts for Essex County, among other racdes. The race for State Representative of the 11th Essex District, which covers Nahant and part of West Lynn, was decided in September’s primary when Sean Reid came out on top.

The results below were provided to us by the City of Lynn Elections Office, sent out at 1:49am on Nov. 6th. Final results show that of the 62,307 registered voters in the City of Lynn a massive 50% of the voters (31,115) cast their ballots. However, that number is expected to rise, as the Election Office reports that they have a lot of “auxilliary” ballots that have to be hand counted. In 2020 there was 64% turnout from 56,041 voters, and Election Chief Janet Rower is confident that we will surpass that.

I do want to remark on the hard work and dedication of our Staff and Poll Workers.  We had over 190 workers at the 8 locations who worked so tirelessly, some until midnight and others until 2am to get those ballots counted.  Many locations had long lines and it was a very tedious process getting the 2 extra long ballots fed into the tabulators along with over 15,000 early and mail in ballots that had to be fed into the machines.

Our phones were non stop from Poll workers verifying voter’s status so they could indeed vote at their locations, many of them first time voters!   We all wanted to make sure that no one would be turned away if we could help it.

I truly appreciate every one of our workers and to these  “Election Heroes”, I say thank you and job well done!

Janet L. Rowe, Lynn City Clerk & Election Chief

Please note that the numbers below are the Unofficial results for the City of Lynn. Official results will be posted after the Election Office certifies the election, which will be broken down by precincts along with the percentages of overall voters and the percentage of voters by precinct as well. This article will be updated when this has been received, no later than November 20th.
