From Centerboard:
My name is Olivia Grinstead, and I am the Program Director of the Lynn Family Resource Center. Our program is grateful and excited to take on the new role as the Lynn Community Fridge’s program in charge.
After 5 impactful years I am thrilled to say that the fridge will now be managed and lovingly supported by Centerboard and the Lynn Family Resource Center. The fridge was started and previously managed by an anonymous group of community activists whose dedication to bringing whole, fresh foods to the community drove them to establish the community fridge.
Thanks to them and their hard work the fridge is here to provide free, accessible food for our community.
Our goal is to make the Lynn Community Fridge a beacon for people to go to when they are hungry or just need information on resources. I want to make sure the fridge is a place people feel safe to go to. In order to do that, I would really like folks in the community to help keep up with the items in the fridge. I know in an ideal world we would have it stocked 24/7, being a realist, I would just like to have a steady team in place to always make sure people are flowing in or holding food drives in order to have items in it when we can.
If you or anyone you know may be interested in volunteering to assist in the upkeep or restocking of the fridge please reach out. We are currently building partnerships with other local businesses and non-profits to help keep a fresh rotation of produce and canned goods. If you have any contacts you believe could open their hearts to assisting us in this project, I would love to hear from you. View our volunteer opportunities HERE.
Thank you for your continuous support of other the Community Fridge and the Lynn Family Resource Center. Have a wonderful rest of your day!
With gratitude,
Olivia Grinstead

Interview with Olivia about the Lynn Community Fridge
History of the Community Fridge
In 2018 a determined group of anonymous community organizers came together with a goal in mind. Provide safe and affordable access to free food to those in need. From this came the Lynn Community Fridge.
Officially placed and running in 2020 during the Covid-19 pandemic, a time where more families than ever struggled to place fresh meals on the table, the Community Fridge quickly became a lifeline for many of those with in the city of Lynn.
Through nurtured community connects the Community fridge team built a network of volunteers, donors, local organizations, and small businesses who all aligned to keep the fridge stocked, clean, and accessible.
In 2025 we now see a passing of the baton as the Lynn Family Resource Center takes the reigns. Committed to continuing the legacy of being a safe environment where anyone and anytime can have access to the basic necessity of fresh, clean food for themselves and their families.
About the Lynn Family Resource Center (LFRC)
The Lynn Family Resource Center (LFRC) is a program of Centerboard that provides members of our community access to family support services. Any family member can walk into the LFRC and receive assistance with any human services related issue. If services cannot be provided to a family member onsite at the LFRC, staff will provide information and referral to a network of service providers affiliated with the program.
The Family Resource Center’s philosophy is to “do whatever it takes” to help the family better meet its needs. The Lynn Family Resource Center is located at 16 City Hall Square in Lynn. We have a parking lot and are easily accessible by both the 435 and 429 bus routes.
