UPDATE FROM SUPERINTENDENT TUTWILER

Earlier today Superintendent Tutwiler gave an update on Remote Learning plans for the Lynn Public Schools. Phase 2 of the LPS plan is expected to launch on April 27th with a goal to support and maintain students’ current levels of progress as best as possible during the COVID-19 crisis.

According to the statement, “The Phase 2 approach will sustain academic engagement through the end of the school year, should the cancellation extend to that point.”

Dr. Tutwiler also says that this will be accessible to all students in the LPS system. “Students do not need to have access to technology or the internet in order to engage with all Phase 2 learning activities. The work will be available for families in paper form as well as online. A distribution plan for paper-based materials is forthcoming.”

The state of MA released a list of COVID-19 by city/town this week.

We want to take a moment to thank the Lynn fire Dept. for their tireless work during this crisis. From their Facebook page:

“To help with making sure our elderly are taken care of, one company a day is being detailed to assist with food drops to our elderly complexes throughout the city. With the assistance of volunteers, including many of our elected officials, these boxes are getting organized and packed with food provided by the Boston Food Bank, the Produce Connection, and grocery stores including Stop & Shop and Shaw’s. All this is taking place at the Salvation Army Food Bank on Franklin St. before being distributed throughout the city. ”

The Lynn Public Health Department has confirmed that as of today, the number of confirmed positive COVID-19 cases has risen to 891, 74 have recovered, and 21 Lynn residents have died.
