2018 Beyond Walls Mural Festival
From August 6-19, 2018 over 20 muralists visited Lynn and created close to 30 murals as part of the 2018 Beyond Walls Festival. This was the second year that the Mural Festival has taken place, and has given Lynn dozens of murals throughout the Downtown Lynn Cultural District. Beyond Walls is a creative placemaking project that aims to activate space to strengthen communities through art. In this mini-documentary we highlight Beyond Walls, some of the muralists that participated in this year’s festival, and the Rock The Block Party that ended the festival. Al Wilson, Founder & Executive Director of Beyond Walls, takes us on the journey from prep to the murals being worked on, and the block party before talking about the future of Beyond Walls. We also talk with Muralists BEYUNG, Killia Llano, & Ruben Ubiera who talked about the pieces of art they worked on.
