Dangerously high heat to hit area, here’s how to beat it

Thursday & Friday temperatures are expected to be in the 90°s, with it feeling like over 100° in the area. Below is information about the heat and how the community can cool off tomorrow, when the worst of the heart is expected. Friday will also be hot, but scattered thunderstorms should offer some relief.

HEAT ADVISORY in effect

  • Per Mayor Nicholson’s office: There will be a heat advisory in Lynn for Thursday, August 3 through Sunday, August 7.
  • In effect from 11AM on Thursday to 8PM on Friday, as of August 3rd at 10AM
  • Heat index values up to 105 expected. Hot temperatures and high humidity may cause heat illnesses to occur.
  • Drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out of the sun, and check up on relatives and neighbors. Young children and pets should never be left unattended in vehicles under any circumstances.
  • Take extra precautions if you work or spend time outside. When possible reschedule strenuous activities to early morning or evening.

  • From Lynn Public Schools: Due to the extreme heat advisory, we decided to cancel summer programming in all ELEMENTARY school buildings. Please stay cool and stay safe!

Splash Pad Locations

The City of Lynn operates 4 splash pads that operate in the summer daily from 8am-8pm. They are located at Kiley Park, Flax Pond Park, Neptune Blvd. Park, & Barry Park. The video below shows off the locations of each splash pad.
