Despite the rain, more than120 supporters attended the Beyond Walls LIVE! June 7th fundraiser with guests mingling at the Lynn-based nonprofit’s headquarters and the Lynn Museum. While donations continue to come in, to date more than $30,000 dollars have been raised for Beyond Walls’ Classroom to the Streets initiative.

A lively panel discussion and Q&A moderated by Beyond Walls founder and CEO Al Wilson with artists Cristhian Saravia (Golden305), Ruben Ubeira, Hailey Bonia (Flourish), Anna Duggan (Annadidathing) and Percy Fortini-Wright kicked-off the evening. The program also included live painting and a print sale, refreshments provided by Bent Water Brewing Co. and a headline performance by the Village Revival Band.

Created by Beyond Walls in collaboration with Lynn Public Schools and St. Mary’s, Classroom to the Streets includes teacher fellowships, curriculum development, and the design of large-scale public art installations. Through this initiative, art teachers who receive professional development credits for their participation are paired with renowned artists. Together they design murals, develop lesson plans, and organize tours so that K-12 students can experience and interpret the art and connect back to classroom learning. This year, 13 high school juniors with interests in fine arts, education, or art education will work alongside 12 educators and five professional artists as part of a two-week mural installation program.

Classroom to the Streets interdisciplinary approach enhances critical thinking skills and promotes academic success while celebrating Lynn’s diverse cultural communities, fostering a sense of community pride, and promoting community engagement.
