The below information is current as of November 25, 2025

No vehicles may park on a public street or sidewalk during a declared Snow Emergency.

Residents can move their vehicles to designated city parking lots once the snow parking ban is announced. Vehicles parked on streets and sidewalks are subject to ticketing and towing. An announcement will be made when the parking ban is lifted. Vehicles must be removed promptly from these lots at the end of a snow emergency, or they will be towed.

Hearing requests for violations must be requested within 21 days online at the City’s Citation Portal or in writing to Robert Cronin, Administrative Hearing Officer.

Snow Permit (Pilot Program)

The Parking Department will be launching a Snow Permit Pilot Program this winter. This program would allow them to be aware of what residents are parked in the school lots during a snow ban, and send residents email notification when their car needs to be removed from the school yard.

Registration will be made available at a later date, this article will be updated when we are sent further information.

CAR REMOVAL POLICY

Vehicles still in designated snow lots after the times below will be subject to ticketing and towing.

  • If parking ban is lifted BEFORE 9 PM:  Residents have two hours to remove cars from lots.
  • If parking ban is lifted AFTER 9 PM: Residents will have until 6 AM the next day to remove cars from lots.

snow tow lot & fee amounts

The new snow tow lot is located at 389 Blossom Street (Lynn Ferry Terminal Site). If your car is towed during a snow emergency, you will face a $195 tow fee and a $150 parking ticket. Additionally, there is a $35 storage fee for every day the vehicle is held at the tow lot. It is strongly advised that you secure off-street parking during a snow emergency to avoid these significant costs.
NOTE: This is only for vehicles towed during a snow emergency.

Fire Hydrant Shoveling

The Fire Department does their best to locate and remove snow from around fire hydrants. Assistance from residents is greatly appreciated. The City of Lynn is asking residents to keep safety in mind when clearing snow from around their homes.

The City of Lynn would like to remind homeowners to remove snow from exterior vents connected to heating appliances. Carbon monoxide, a poisonous gas, is known as a silent killer because it is colorless, odorless, and tasteless.  Residents are reminded that when clearing snow on their properties they should also check for possible snow build-up around exterior exhaust vents attached to fuel-burning appliances and heating systems such as fireplaces and furnaces. Blockages in these vents can cause carbon monoxide to accumulate inside a home.

For more information please call 781-477-7099 or 781-268-8000
