Lynn is actively tackling the skill gaps in the workforce by offering trade opportunities for adult residents to retain in specialized occupations.
The Career Training Initiative is a state-funding program to train Adults (18+) from MASSHIRE – North Shore Career Center. These FREE training programs aim to equip individuals, regardless of background, with valuable skills for a thriving future. The Welding, Auto Tech, and Plumbing Training programs will foster expertise in these specific industries. These will be facilitated by and at Lynn Vocational Technical Institute during the evenings on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays starting January 13, 2025.
Industry Certifications will be offered. Job Search and Career Coaching Assistance will be provided by MASSHIRE – North Shore Career Center, who will also provide resume Development and Connection with Industry Employers during training All program participants would need to complete and pass a Criminal Offender Record Information form
AUTOMOTIVE TECHNOLOGY
Students will learn how to Inspect vehicles for damage and record findings so that necessary repairs can be made. Test drive vehicles and test components and systems, using equipment such as infrared engine analyzers, compression gauges, and computerized diagnostic devices. PLUMBING
PLUMBING TIER 1 CLASS INFO
Certificate: Plumbing Tier 1, Hot Works, OSHA10
This course is designed to prepare the student who has not had any formal training for a career in the plumbing industry by covering all the different facets of both the plumbing codes and industry standards relative to the plumbing trade. Students will also be introduced to basic plumbing skills through hands-on projects and demonstrations. Upon completion of this course, students will have earned these industry-recognized credentials. Massachusetts Tier 1 Plumbing certificate, Hot Works Certificate, and an OSHA 10-hour Certification.
WELDING
Adult Students will learn how to Inspect, measure, or test completed metal workpieces to ensure conformance to specifications, using measuring and testing devices. Read blueprints, work orders, or production schedules to determine product or job instructions or specifications. Industry Certification Includes OSHA 10, NFPA Hotworks.
