North Shore Juneteenth Association Announces Call for Nominations for 2027 Local Black Excellence Recognition

Community members are invited to nominate outstanding Black leaders, professionals, artists, and changemakers making a difference in Essex County.

From the North Shore Juneteenth Association: The North Shore Juneteenth Association, Inc. is pleased to announce that nominations are now open for its 2027 Local Black Excellence Recognition, an annual celebration honoring the achievements, leadership, and contributions of Black Americans and individuals from the African Diaspora who are making a meaningful difference in their professions and communities.

The Association invites residents, colleagues, organizations, and community members throughout Essex County to nominate individuals whose accomplishments and service deserve to be recognized and celebrated.

From educators and entrepreneurs to community advocates, artists, professionals, and everyday changemakers, the Local Black Excellence Recognition shines a spotlight on the individuals whose dedication, talent, leadership, and commitment help strengthen communities across the North Shore.

Who Is Eligible for Nomination?

Nominees must be living individuals who identify as Black and meet at least one of the following criteria: they were born in Essex County, are currently based in Essex County, or are making a meaningful impact within Essex County.

Nominees must have demonstrated significant professional achievements, meaningful contributions to their communities, or both.

Completed nominations must be submitted by December 22

2027 Recognition Ceremony

Selected honorees will be celebrated at the 2027 Local Black Excellence Recognition Ceremony on Tuesday, February 9, 2027, at 6:30 p.m. at Lynn City Hall.

The annual recognition provides an opportunity to honor the individuals whose accomplishments and contributions enrich the region, inspire future generations,and reflect the depth of talent, leadership, and service within the Black community.

“Every community has individuals whose work deserves to be seen, whose contributions deserve to be acknowledged, and whose stories can inspire others,” said Nicole McClain, President of the North Shore Juneteenth Association, Inc. “We encourage everyone to think about the people in their lives and communities who are making a difference and to help us ensure their achievements receive the recognition they deserve.”

Community members are encouraged to submit nominations and share this opportunity with their professional networks, colleagues, friends, and local organizations.

Together, the North Shore Juneteenth Association and the community can celebrate local excellence, elevate inspiring stories, and recognize the individuals whose contributions continue to make Essex County a stronger and more vibrant place to live and work.
