The Food Project accepting applicants for youth summer work program

The Food Project is accepting applications for students to be part of their annual summer Seed Crew. Each year, a diverse group of youth leaders all across the North Shore work closely with one another in a 6 1/2 week summer experience. This is a paid opportunity at $15/hr for youth ages 14-17, working 28-32 hours a week.

During this experience youth grow and distribute healthy food to the community in various methods, learn about the complexities of the food system, learn about social injustices, and key leadership skills.

This summer, the Food Project will recruit 84 high school students between the ages of 14 and 17 across racial, socio-economic, gender identity, and geographic differences to work on our urban and suburban farms in Boston, Lincoln, Lynn, and Wenham, MA. From July 8th- Aug 15th youth work with staff to grow vegetables and distribute thousands of pounds of produce while developing leadership, teamwork, workplace, and civic participation skills.

After working on the farms each morning, Seed Crew spends most afternoons in workshops learning about sustainable agriculture, food access, social justice, and more. At the end of the 6 1/2 week experience, youth will have tools to make lasting positive impacts in their communities and gain newfound relationships with the land and each other.

Applications can be found by clicking here and are due by March 11, 2024.
