Travel options during the rebuilding of the Lynn Station

This article is to provide you with an update on the travel options during the rebuilding of the Lynn Station. Please see below for updates from the MBTA, by mode of transportation.

Commuter Rail

  • Free shuttle buses operating between Lynn and Swampscott Stations provide access to/from the Newburyport/Rockport Line.
  • Bus route 456 operates between Lynn Station and Salem Depot.
  • In spring 2024, commuter rail service returns to Lynn when an interim station currently being built on Silsbee Street is completed.

Bus and Subway

  • Bus routes 441, 442, and 455 operate between Lynn Station and Wonderland Station on the Blue Line.
  • Bus route 426 operates between Central Square in Lynn and Haymarket Station on the Orange and Green Lines.
  • Bus routes 429, 435, 436, and 439 operate between Lynn, area shopping centers, and Nahant. Details below.

Ferry

  • The Lynn Ferry operates on weekdays until October 31 between the Blossom Street Pier and the downtown Boston area at Long Wharf (North). A one-way fare on the Lynn Ferry is currently $7. Tickets can be purchased on the mTicket app or with cash. Printed LinkPasses, Commuter Rail Zone passes, and M7s are also accepted. 
  • Passengers should note that some schedule adjustments may be made due to weather this season. Service information will be available at mbta.com/alerts.

All shuttle buses are accessible.
