This week on LCTV News we cover some of the big headlines of the past week including United Lynn Pride awarded prestigious AASLH Albert B. Corey Award, Escuela Latina graduates 75, Lynnway Multimodal Project receives community input, and more big news from this past week. We highlighted both the Juneteenth Celebration on June 21 and Frederick Douglass Speech Reading on July 3rd in this week’s double Lynn Lowdown.

On the first Lowdown this week we spotlighted the upcoming Juneteenth Celebration. Founder/Executive Director of North Shore Juneteenth Association Nicole McClain joined us to talk about this event, happening at Lynn Common on June 21, 2025 from 11am-3pm. There will be food, performances from ITM and others, speakers, and more for this celebration that has been happening since 2017.

The Frederick Douglass Speech reading was the focus on the second Lynn Lowdown this week. Planning Member of the North Shore Juneteenth Association Wendy Joseph talked about this beloved annual event. Community members are invited to read a selection of Frederick Douglass’ speech “What to the Slave is the Fourth of July?”, as well as enjoying some activities and resources on hand. Before this reading a new way finding sign will be unveiled in a ceremony. This event will take place at Frederick Douglass Park in Central Square 11am on Thursday, July 3rd.
