Kiwanis is returning to Lynn after an absence of several years.
Kiwanis, a world-wide service club with nearly 200,000 members, is a membership organization that emphasizes programs for children and youth. Club organizers are seeking interested members of the community who would like to team up with like-minded individuals who, in the words of the club’s defining statement, want to “improve the world, one child and one community at a time.
Each Kiwanis Club defines its own service parameters and service projects, organizers said. Membership is open to anyone 18 years of age or older who wants to get involved. Kiwanis is not a religious organization and is completely non-political, organizers stressed. Kiwanis members enjoy fellowship and the satisfaction of working together to better the community for all.
The first meeting of the new club will be held Thursday, Nov. 17, at 6:00 PM at the Demakes Family YMCA at 40 Neptune Blvd., according to club organizers. Kiwanis Club members from other New England clubs will be on hand to answer questions, along with representatives from Kiwanis International headquarters in Indianapolis, Indiana.
More information is available on the Kiwanis Club’s Facebook page, facebook.com/LynnMassKiwanis, and at www.newenglandkiwanis.org and www.kiwanis.org, or e-mail LynnKiwanis@gmail.com.
