City of Lynn Independence Day Celebrations & Advisories

The City of Lynn celebrates Independence Day with festivities on July 3rd every year. Please see information below for both events and restrictions/delays.

City Hall Holiday hours

City Hall will be open until 12:30pm on Monday, July 3rd and closed on Tuesday, July 4th in observance of the Fourth of July.

El Ayuntamiento estará abierto el lunes 3 de julio hasta las 12:30 pm y estará cerrado el martes 4 de julio en conmemoración dl Cuatro de Julio.


july 3rd EVENT: Reading Frederick Douglass Together

The annual community reading of  Frederick Douglass’ speech, “The Meaning of July Fourth For The Negro”, is happening inside of the Lynn Museum, starting at 11am on July 3rd. This event will feature musical performance, dance performance, vendors, and more!



JULY 4th EVENT: LIBERATION FOR ALL

Taking place on the Fourth of July, this event signifies the ongoing pursuit for freedom, independence, and liberation for these respective communities. There will be speakers and a protest at Manning field at 12pm, Occupy Wyoma Square at 1pm, & a community gathering at Magnolia Park at 1:30pm.

PLEASE AVOID WYOMA SQUARE ON JULY 4TH FROM 11AM – 2PM


july 5th EVENT: fireworks celebration

Enjoy a spectacular display of fireworks at this year’s Fourth of July Fireworks Celebration, being held at Red Rock Park at 9:15pm on July 5th. The Friends of Lynn & Nahant Beach will hold the first installment of their Red Rock Summer Entertainment Series from 7-9pm, featuring The Dirty Floorboards.


Street Closures & Parking Restrictions ON JULY 5th

  • Parking restrictions on Lynnshore Drive will go in effect from 3pm to 11pm.
  • Lynnshore Drive will be closed to vehicle access from 6pm to 11pm.
  • There will be no parking on Prescott Road and Cherry Street (right side).
  • Handicap parking will be made available to residents on Lynnshore Drive between King’s Beach Road and Prescott Road.

Please note that alcohol, marijuana, fireworks, and drones are prohibited. State Police may conduct searches freely on Department of Conservation & Recreation (DCR) property.


july 9th EVENT: lynn woods neighborhood parade & races

Please note: this event was postponed from July 4th.

Going on for over 60 years, join the Lynn Woods neighborhood for a parade that goes down Lynnfield Street to activities at the Wyoma girls softball field!
