This week on LCTV News we cover some of the big headlines of the past week including ballot positions set for November 4th, Lynn Film Festival returns October 1st, expanded MBTA service to Salem in October, and more big news from this past week. This week we produced two segments for the Lynn Lowdown, with MLP about their La Cultura Fest on Sept. 20th and Lynn’s first Poet Laureate Michelle LaPoetica Richardson.

First up was Millennium Latino Project joining us to discuss the 2025 La Cultura Fest being held on Saturday, September 20 at 1pm. Co-founders Edwin JC Rosales & Stephanie Herrera Rios joined us to discuss this event that celebrates MLP’s one-year anniversary. Being held at the new Harbor Park on the Lynnway, La Cultura Fest will offer a day full of live performances, local vendors, family fun, and powerful cultural expression.

On the second Lowdown this week we invited on the first-ever Poet Laureate for the City of Lynn. Michelle “LaPoetica” Richardson was selected for this position in April, with the goal to “using the power of poetry to connect, uplift, and reflect the heart of the Lynn community” over her two-year term. Michele is a longtime Lynn resident that proudly identifies as a “creative soul,” a community organizer, a “love and unity advocate”, and is a fierce supporter of the arts. She discussed her journey to this position, what she hopes to accomplish, and the legacy she hopes to create as Lynn’s Inaugural Poet Laureate.
