Community Organizations are Collaborating to bring the First Diversity Matters Festival to Lynn!

Save the Harbor/Save the Bay and The Department of Conservation and Recreation awarded North Shore Juneteenth Association (NSJA) with the Better Beaches Grant. As a part of the 2021 Better Beaches Grant Program NSJA is collaborating with Total Inspiration Athletics, Artful Life Counseling Center, Lynn Museum, Creative Collective, Marblehead School of Music, and other community leaders to bring the first Diversity Matters Festival to Lynn.

The event will take place at Red Rock Park on August 29, 2021 from 3:00-7:00 PM.

The community can look forward to enjoying food, music, vendors, dance performances and much more!

The past year has shown the importance of cultural inclusion in making our nation stronger. This event will highlight the benefits of having a culturally diverse community and celebrate the cultural wealth of Lynn. “Highlighting the diversity all around us in this unique and picturesque setting seemed like a natural progression to all of the work NSJA has done this year to raise awareness and to foster collaborations and connections for BIPOC business owners, artisans, makers, entrepreneurs and creators,” says North Shore Juneteenth director Nicole McClain.

Supporting underserved communities and businesses and creating a more equitable playing field created a connection to Creative Collective, a Salem based organization that supports small businesses of all types and works to build up the creative workforce and the connections between them. Founder John Andrews states, “we are honored to be partnering with NSJA and so many amazing community partners to shine a light on the vibrant and diverse community of artisans, makers and performers on the North Shore. We also wanted to extend a thank you to Essex County Community Foundation for supporting this event and allowing all vendor fees to be waived”.

Events that represent the community and amplify the BIPOC community are a focus of the new Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Officer for the City of Lynn Faustina Jarolyn Cuevas: “It’s time we had an event like this that celebrates and showcases our cultural wealth and the amazing diversity of this city. Our cultural and linguistic diversity is what makes Lynn unique and allows us to learn across differences. I hope to see and participate in more events like this in the future.¡Juntos podemos!”

¡Las organizaciones comunitarias están colaborando para traer el Primer Festival “Nuestra Diversidad Importa” a Lynn!

comunitarios para traer el primer Festival “Nuestra Diversidad Importa” a la ciudad de Lynn.

La comunidad puede esperar disfrutar de comida, música, vendedores, espectáculos de danza y mucho más!!!

El año pasado ha demostrado la importancia de la inclusión cultural para hacer que nuestra nación sea más fuerte. Este evento destacará los beneficios de tener una comunidad culturalmente diversa y celebrará la riqueza cultural de Lynn. “Destacar la diversidad que nos rodea en este entorno único y pintoresco parecía una progresión natural de todo el trabajo que NSJA ha realizado este año para crear conciencia y fomentar las colaboraciones y conexiones para los propietarios de negocios, artesanos, creadores, empresarios y creadores en nuestra comunidad diversa”, dice la directora de North Shore Juneteenth, Nicole McClain.

El apoyo a las comunidades y empresas desatendidas y la creación de un campo de juego más equitativo crearon una conexión con Creative Collective, una organización con sede en Salem que apoya a las pequeñas empresas de todo tipo y trabaja para construir la fuerza laboral creativa y las conexiones entre ellas. El fundador John Andrews afirma: “Nos sentimos honrados de asociarnos con NSJA y tantos socios comunitarios increíbles para arrojar luz sobre la vibrante y diversacomunidad de artesanos, fabricantes e intérpretes en la costa norte.
También queríamos extender un agradecimiento a la Fundación Comunitaria del Condado de Essex por apoyar este evento y permitir que se exima de todas las tarifas de los proveedores.”

Los eventos que representan a la comunidad y amplifican a la comunidad diversa de Lynn son un foco de la nueva Oficial de Diversidad, Equidad e Inclusión en la ciudad. Faustina Jarolyn Cuevas, dice: “hora de que tengamos un evento como este que celebre y muestre nuestra riqueza cultural y la increíble diversidad de esta ciudad. Nuestra diversidad cultural y lingüística es lo que hace que Lynn sea única y nos permite aprender a través de las diferencias.
